Leather Strop by Chipping Away Made in our Shop This strop is made right in our Chipping Away shop.  We mount Heavy Duty premium leather on both sides of a hard-board paddle.  Other manufactures sell strops that are made with very thin leather strips.  We use 10 oz cowhide leather which is about the same thickness as good quality leather belt (1/8" or more)... consequently, it really is Heavy Duty.   Leather itself measures 7" X 2" and overall length including the handle is 12".
