Basswood Practice or Building Boards

Our Basswood Practice or Building Boards were originally meant for carving practice they have become popular for building small boxes.  The measure 4″ x 11″ and are 3/8″ thick.  They are available in bundles of 6 boards.  They are perfect for chip carving practice or even making small plaques or signs.  Woodburners love them too as they make quick and easy gifts.  Children love to be given a board with their name on it …it will hang on their bedroom door for years.

Basswood Practice or Building Boards

The boards are cut from kiln dried basswood, then sanded smooth making them ready-to-use.   They are as blemish free as nature can make them and will always have at least one side in perfect shape.

Did You Know:

Basswood is a favored carving wood that is known by many names including linden, limewood and, in French, tilleul.  It is lightweight with a fine texture that holds detail very well and permits excellent control.  Good quality basswood is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain because of intense offshore demand.  Our Basswood comes from Ontario and Quebec in Canada.  This light weight wood works very easily with both hand and power tools. It cuts cleanly, nails, screws, and glues well. It can be painted, stained, and finished without difficulty.
