Proxxon Hotwire Cutter Thermocut 115E

The Proxxon Hotwire Cutter Thermocut 115E is deal for architectural models in addition to classic railroaders and boat model building.

The large table ensures smooth and easy movement of the work piece.  The table measures 15-11/32″ x 11″.

The printed grid and protractor also assists with division and cutting.  Its solid aluminum over arm has a 13-3/4″ throat and offers 5-1/2″ (140 mm) in height.  The holder and wire coil (wire included) may be adjusted to enable miter cutting.  In addition, an LED indicates operation and thus reminds you not to touch the hot wire.   The cutting wire heats to the maximum temperature in less than 1 second.

Note: The correct temperature, being material and thickness dependent, is learned from experience.  Profiles are ideally cut at lower temperatures and while applying less cutting force.

Styrofoam is an inexpensive material and very environmentally friendly when compared to other materials.  Styrofoam can easily be cut with a hot wire.

Cutting wire temperature ranges from 210 – 390 °F (100 – 200 °C).  This unit weighs 6.6 lbs.
